30 Weeks, 30 Side-Quests

So, it’s Tuesday 2nd June 2026 as I write this and in 208 days time (just under 30 weeks) I turn 40. Seems like a good excuse to set myself a fun challenge to make the most of life, enjoy some new experiences and hopefully achieve a few goals between now and then.
Here, in no particular order, are my sidequests to attempt. I only have 28, so will need to think up a few more. As I complete them I’ll add links with details, descriptions, photos, etc… Wish me luck!
- Write a short story
- Walk 50 miles (80km) in a week

- Try a new hobby

- Create something that I’m proud of

- Travel to a country I’ve never visited before
- Get a new tattoo
- Write a song
- Enter a Game Jam, complete a game and submit it
- Go to a music festival – either a day or full weekend
- Watch 3 movies I haven’t seen yet

- Take a day off work and go swimming

- Try to work out what I really want from life in my 40s
- Make an effort to reconnect with old friends
- Read a book recommended by someone else (not something I’d typically read)
- Donate to charity
- Stay up all night
- Jog 5k
